amount of months and two different releases, that no one care of, and see
effort put in lower boot time under 10 seconds as a priority over the correct
functioning of the software.

when I wrote this some time ago someone did even blame my post as flame and
so...
Now that a new release is out I can't but confirm my original
impression: this bug is frankly ridiculous because ridiculous is having
it even in the new release after
it affects me too, crash when I try to set Compiz instead of kwin.
As for that "soon", I'm a bit skeptical about it... anyway we'll see.

I've the same issue, but I add: not only Mplayer fails to stop XScreensaver,
VLC too is unable to stop it.
Isn't it a Gnome related bug?

Tried it under Ubuntu "Karmic Koala" 9.10:
mplayer -vo aa myvideo.avi
doesn't output video ASCII art at all, it plays only audio.
I've digged in the .deb source and I've noticed the ascii-arts flag isn't
enabled, and libaa1 isn't in the depende
I confirm the same issue on Karmic 64 installed from scratch.
I uncheck the 'Keep aligned' option but next login the option is checked again.
Even a simple desktop refresh with F5 return to checked 'Keep aligned'.
Very annoying bug...

Same bug on my system:
sda --> Win XP (and MBR) (NTFS)
sdb --> data & backup partition (NTFS)
sdc --> Karmic 64 with /boot (ext4)
45-50 seconds of spotless disk trashing at boot, then Karmic starts.
Karmic itself should even be really fast to boot but the Grub2 useless
waiting time defeats any be
Same problem here, though I don't know whether this is a bug or simply a wrong
decision about the desktop management policy it's really quite annoying
re-enter your password every single time you have to change frequency of your
microprocessor after a couple of minutes.
Hope it can be fixed soon
I've just tried Ubuntu Karmic Koala Alpha2 with kernel version 2.6.30
and have had exactly the same behaviour than with Jaunty kernel. Ubuntu
fails to recognize the cell phone.
The lsusb command outputs nothing concerning the w300i.
Some hints?
