I solved this problem by deleting the .mozilla folder on my home folder
If you dont know how to do it use this line on the terminal
rm -R /home/yourusername/.mozilla

I'm having same problem here with firefox 3.0.5 on Ubuntu 8.04.
My Ubuntu was installed yesterday and now I'm getting some errors. I don't have
access to the history, bookmarks, back, forward and stop buttons(All are
deactivated or, in case of the history or the bookmarks, appears clean).
