I just found that file on my 13.10 system and it was over 114Gb!!!
The repeating pattern that appears in the log file is different from the one
posted by other people here, see attached file (last 500 lines).
I'm using a Logitech C910 webcam.

Something broke for me too! Every time I boot the system, my preferred
Alt+Shift doesn't work.
In `Text Entry Settings`, I can still see my Alt+Shift, but it doesn't
work. Erasing the shorctut and setting it again doesn't work.

I'm not sure if this is the same issue, but my middle click also stopped
working after 13.10 upgrade.
I'm using Lenovo X1 Carbon and it has a hardware middle mouse button. Here's
the xev output when I press that button:
KeymapNotify event, serial 37, synthetic NO, window 0x0,

I did some testing and looks like the cause of this intense CPU usage is
Chrome's effect of "flashing" a pinned tab when it's updated (see a
short video attached). When I open this tab to make it stop flashing,
CPU usage of compiz drops down to 1-2%.
One would think it's a bug in Chrome but I'm no
