Wow, this was a while ago now, so I'm not too sure exactly what
happened. I'm also shocked at myself, it's not like me to log a bug
report and give little info to go with it. I suspect some of the
information that I originally reported may have got lost somehow,
probably at my end, my bad.

Well anyway, best I can remember: I was trying to install Kubuntu onto
my laptop, but gave up after a few failed attempts, with this error
occurring on my last attempt. It occurred about midway through the
install process while it was copying data and setting up the file
system.

On this occasion, I used an installation CD I made from a downloaded ISO
of Kubuntu 6.06 i386 (earlier installation attempts were made using 5.10
i386). I did use FSUM to check the ISOs were downloaded correctly
before making my CDs.

The laptop is an HP NX6125 ER667PA, not the best out there, but
definitely one of the cheapest, which I imagine would make it quite
popular. The laptop came with WinXP Home pre-installed. I first
formatted the HDD and installed my own copy of WinXP Pro, then later I
successfully installed OpenSUSE SLICK (from Linux Format mag issue 78)
as a secondary OS (my first experience with Linux, hoorah!). Then after
hearing such wonderous things about Ubuntu (and wanting to stick with
KDE) I decided to uninstall OpenSUSE and try out Kubuntu.

Since my failed attempts to install Kubuntu, I have since reinstalled
OpenSUSE as a secondary OS, but would eventually like to try some form
of Ubuntu again as OpenSUSE hasn't been much use to me.

I hope this information has helped in some way. Sorry for my long-
winded wording.
