I, too, have this similar issue with Genesys Logic, Inc. USB 2.0 IDE Adapter, ID: 05e3:0701 not being seen by the system when plugged in. I am unable to burn cds or dvds to this unit (a Kangaroo cd/dvd burner) because it is unrecognized by the system (Maverick 10.10 - updated to all patches as of 12-15-10).
I can mount a data dvd by issuing the command: udisks --mount /dev/sr1; and can read/copy data from the disk. Cannot burn however. I have tried several different DVD creating packages from Ubuntu and none can see the drive. Several persons have reported that their drives worked well at 10.4 but have since quit working. I cannot verify this since I have only recently moved from Mac OSx to Ubuntu because of hardware operability issues there. A working solution to the problem is greatly appreciated by ALL!! Thank you for your time and effort in tracking down the solution we so desperately need. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/646293 Title: usb connected cd/dvd drive not showing up in Nautilus despite being in dmesg -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
