I'm seeing this also on my Ubuntu 8.04.1 (Kubuntu) install. Seems to me this is a pretty critical bug as could result in major data loss. According to this: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=294520 it appears that a fix has been created. It'd be great if we could get it. Cheers.
