Was running 8.10 alpha 6 on a Dell M1530, (2.6.27-5 kernel) when I got
prompted to do a partial upgrade, (presumably to beta). Tried doing,
and at the end, got "ldconfig deferred processing now taking place" and
update-manager froze. After waiting for literally more than 30
+1 on the 10/8 upgrade of Intrepid causing the problem for the first
time, (was using Intrepid before, as well). Command line update in a
terminal, (i.e. sudo apt-get dist-upgrade) at least lets this upgrade
set go through. Will have to see whether affects future upgrades.

With most recent updates, 3D acceleration once more blown away for
nvidia-glx-177, (which no longer shows up as a Restricted Driver). Once
gdm attempts to start, I again get a pop-up telling me that there was a
problem with my video settings and that my computer is in low-resolution
graphics mode.

worked, to Intrepid @ Alpha 3, where cifs continues to work, (which is
fine for command-line, but of significantly lesser value to most GUI-

Just hit this issue as a result of a repo update yesterday / day before,
(5/28, 5/29). The OO update notification was triggering a Partial
Upgrade, but if you tried to perform, it would just err out. Packages
other than OO could be updated around the issue without problem.
