problem? To me it seems that the brother libraries are not compatible with the
16.10 version of sane, no matter what exact hardware you got.

Hi Christopher,
as I got exactly the same problem with a DCP-7045N and Ubuntu Gnome
16.10, I'll reply as I tested this out:
Connecteted to USB, then scanimage -L: segmentation error
Then I removed the network scanner by brsaneconfig -r scanner. Again, a
segmentation error.
Then I added the UDEV
Still crashes with segfault in 13.10

no, with tonights update, the keyring-error dissapeared. But new errors
show up now, different for IMAP and GMail. This evening (GMT :)), I will

Both of these options are unknown to my Vnc4 version (
4.1.1+xorg4.3.0-37ubuntu1). Both result in an unknown option error when trying
to launch via vnc4server.

Hm, so maybe you need to increse the value here:
unsigned long timeout = usecs_to_jiffies(20);
The higher it is, the slower the display-updates are, so you may have to
experiment a little...

Ok, I did some experimenting :) Update:
In the original housing, linux won't boot. It's a LaCie housing, including a
bus powered USB-SerialATA converter. lsusb states:
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 059f:101a LaCie, Ltd
It does freeze during boot on Bus 001 and Bus 002, no matter if the additional
5V 1A
