You can solve the non-boot issue adding a parameter to kernel. It worked
to me in my dell xps 15 9560 and Ubuntu 17.04.
you must, with root privileges, edit /etc/default/grub and add a parameter to
the default kernel command line:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_rev_ov
As a side note, you can rescue your system if it is currently not
booting.
Press esc during boot to bring grub options and select safe mode (I
think this is the name, it should be the last boot option), it may be
tricky to get the correct timing for pressing esc, and some people say
shift is the c
I can confirm this issue.
What can I do? Is there any way of not having to reinstall the whole
thing?

Since I have updated to xserver-xorg-core 2:1.11.4-ubuntu10.6 I have
been noticing abnormal overheating of my GPUs, even without load. It is

I have found a workaround for this rather annoying problem. If you want to fix
it on a per user basis it is just a matter of going to "System
Settings"->"Start Automatically" (under the advanced tab).

Why isn't mplayerthumbs installed by default? I think it is a bug, since
there is no reason why not to integrate mplayerthumbs and also provide a
