I think, Firefox doesn't use appmenu-gtk for their global menu. They have their own firefox-globalmenu-package. In my case, there are no problems with the icons in Firefox, so long as I switched on the Menu have icons-Option in the gnome-tweak-tool (german firefox-screenshot attached). I
