After installing pango-graphite I was neither able to login through GDM
nor LXDM. Also logging in on the terminal and startx failed. The
system had been running stably for years.
Only removing pango-graphite helped.

Ever since I have only used the 2.6.28-11-generic kernel.
The WLAN works with none of the newer kernels. If I accidentally boot
into one of them, I have no WLAN. So yes, the issue is still there, but

This helps. After changing it in gstreamer-properties to X Window
Ssystem (no xv) Totem works correctly, and after changing it in

I must step back from my former statement. The workaround does work only
sometimes, and I have not yet found out under which conditions. But I
obviously cannot use all the hinting options.

I can confirm gds' workaround with the option system settings for the
hinting in system settings.
Still, this bug is not fixed in Jaunty RC and may give a desastrous

I use the free ati driver on a rotated screen 1050x1400. When I adapt
the subpixel order to VRBG, text in Qt 4 applications like VirtualBox or
SMPlayer gets garbled and completely unreadable. I attach some
screenshots to demonstrate the problem.
