OK to put the bug to Won't fix, but I would be happy to understand why
upstart was being able to boot although the uuid of the / partition was
incorrect. Do you know what could explain this? The behaviour with the
swap partition makes sense.

boot and never reaches the login screen. When grub menu entry Ubuntu, with

12.04 - 14.04, the internal display which I never used was breaking 3d
acceleration. I had the problem with both the Ubuntu default package and

Same here. Kubuntu karmic with binary nvidia driver, dual monitor, kde
4. I tried all possible combinations of vsync on/off in nvidia-settings
and kde desktop special effects settings, none fixed the issue.

OK, I managed to create a fixed package using dch, debuild and pbuilder.
Here is the complete patch + the results of pbuilder. I packed all the
files in a tar.gz archive.
I installed the resulting package on my computer, the issue is fixed.
