In Karmic, the options have changed a little bit. I have an alert sound
set in sound preferences. Firefox, Transmission and Terminal no longer
use de PC speaker, but now the don't beep at all...

Ok, I did not notice those possibility's yet. So does a friend of
mine, who is also running Karmic. The next time we try to call, I will

Here, I can't answer the calls on Google Talk (I guess it's the same
dialog). I think the importance should be higher, as calling with
Emapthy is one of the key features of Empathy (and one of the reasons it
has replaced Pidgin).

Is there any news about this bug? It is quite annoying the icon reports
wrongly about outdated update information. It makes the user feel the
computer is not safe (no security updates), but that's not the case
(well, if the icon is caused by this bug report, of course :-) ).

You're right, after disabling the splash and quiet, I can confirm that
the error message is gone. However the boot process is still stucked and
works again after downgrading mountall.

and made a LiveUSB disk based on a daily image of Karmic.
As I have the persistence option on, I expected I could install all updates, so
I could stay up to date. However,

As there was an upgrade to kernel (2.6.31-13.45) there would have been a

Steps to reproduce :
1) write a new mail in Evolution
2) select part of one line
3) right click to show contextual menu
Expected result :
selection is kept and it is possible to choose "copy" from the menu
Actual result :
selection is lost

Yes that's on the same system. I will post the requested informations as soon
as I get a hand on this machine again. Networking works (after login as it's
using wireless/Network Manager to connect).

I have a system that hang everytime since last update. Pressing
ctrl+alt+del shows that modem-manager is killed so I believe this is the
same bug.

I'm using the same configuration and the vpn is started successfully if
I start it using /etc/init.d/openvpn start in both cases.
I guess something is up with the init.d->upstart transition but I'm not
sure.

Next round
I went back to a version of Karmic where I could boot with the VBd.
I added your repository and manually made a
sudo apt-get install mountall
I made a ez_mt_before.log
I booted (hang)
I removed the VBd from fstab via life CD
I booted again. (no VBd mounted)
I did NOT make a mout -

On a fresh Karmic beta installation I installed openssh-server but it
doesn't autostart at boot. Machines upgraded from jaunty to karmic don't
exhibit this issue.

On current karmic it doesn't autoload with a SL400. I will post see Bug
#448157 to bug #448157 once I get a new chance to see this laptop.
