Ok more clues. My keyboard is a Logitech G15 Gaming keyboard. It has lots of
features, which present themselves to Linux as various devices. The regression
somewhere around that.

1) Run a MythBuntu/XBMC/Kodi-session without any desktop at all! They're in
/usr/share/xsessions/
for running completely standalone.
2) Running a really minimal WM that doesn't try to manage screens at all like

When it boots LightDM draws most of the graphics including the account names,
but not the password text field.
If I switch to a VT and back it works fine again. You can see that it has

I installed the games from Humble Indie Bundle 5 and got some problems.
First Bastion worked fine. Then I installed Psyconauts and Bastion stopped
working.
Bastion depends on libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0:amd64 and Psyconatus depends on
libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0:i386.
Both libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0 pac
I can no longer reproduce this with latest Xorg driver/mesa/drmlib! It's
fixed in userspace somehow, not kernel.

Xorg freeze, radeon gpu l
I can no longer reproduce this with latest xorg-edgers! Xorg-edgers
hadn't been updated in a while and then there was a big push around 2nd
or 4th May, and that solved it. I did not update the kernel when this
stopped happening, so the fix seems to be in userspace. No idea what to
backport...

3.3.5 works for me, so now it's just a matter of getting this into
Ubuntu.
