The result of the command is "AMILO M". I haven't yet tried the config
modification, because the things have changed a little after installing
Edgy, not Dapper, so maybe new information changes your vision of the
problem a little (just for convenience, I want you to know all I know
before we start
Being tired of this I have completely reinstalled Edgy from freshly
downloaded CD. This solved the problem.

After upgrading to Edgy I experience the strange behaviour of the
keyboard. While everything works in gnome-terminal, firefox, Qt apps,
login screen and so on, some of the applications (Evolution and Gedit
just for example) don't respond to non-latin (namely cyrillic) input.
I repeat: I no longer run KDE, and I don't feel like messing up my
production system by reinstalling it once again. If this bug isn't
reproducable in 2.0, then, in my opinion, it can be considered solved.
I, as the initial reporter of this bug, don't mind closing it.

As I am moving from KDE to GNOME now, I have installed network-manager-
gnome yesterday (instead of knetworkmanager). There were also some
updates, including kernel and stuff.

Yes, I have moved, but I use the same router (changed numbers in fields
to comply with the network). NetworkManager didn't work here, too (when
I tried, and it was only once I moved in). Since that time I turned my
Kubuntu Dapper into Ubuntu Dapper, but the problems stayed.

This happened on KDE 3.5.4, not sure of the ktorrent version, in Dapper.

I have opened the lid yesterday and discovered that a RAM module is
really where this heat comes from. I have 2 of them in my laptop, a 256
MB Samsung and a 512 MB Kingston. While Samsung is relatively cool,
Kingston module is really hot — the chips on the module are even hard to
touch. I double ch
