Thanks for pointing that out, Pedro. But there seems to be more of a bug
then: Rhythmbox doesn't seem to know what it's searching for. See
screenshot, it definitely thinks it looks for text/html.

Thanks, Pedro. With ~/.local/share/rhythmbox/rhythmdb.xml removed I have
the same behaviour (except for the fact that it takes much longer to
rescan the library and naturally much longer for "Install missing
multimedia codecs" window to appear. Debug is attached.
When run in debug mode, Rhythmbox
I did run Rhythmbox, waited for a "search for missing codec" window to
appear, allowed it to search, waited until Rhythmbox confirmed it had
found no suitable codec, then closed the window and exited Rhythmbox.

one *.txt file of all that happen to be in my library folder causes
Rhythmbox to search for a codec. I have reported a separate bug #343707
on this.

Oops, I should have been more careful and do a little more thinking and
testing before reporting this bug.
I have just tried Gnome-Do under a clean user account (created for
testing purposes, nothing in ~/ but defaults), and it works with no
issues. Then I did some more search and found ~/.local/s
* It is. I did "sudo aptitude purge gnome-do && sudo aptitude install
gnome-do", but the problem is still there.
* Well, just opening terminal and issuing the "gnome-do" command results in the
described behaviour on my system.
* 64-bit.

I'm really surprised this bug has low priority. Having a *.txt file
somewhere in the library I have to tell Rhythmbox not to try finding a
codec for text/html every time I start it — is that sane? I mean, every
time I start Rhythmbox I'm presented with annoying evidence that this
piece of software
I have already pointed out that the way this driver is currently
packaged it does not survive suspend-to-disk, either Ubuntu's default
way or via uswsusp, and after a wake-up the camera does not work any
longer (there may be other ways than reboot to reenable it, but I have
