Linux when dkms builds the veeamsnap module, and @Lurchman's solution

I've been having this same issue on ubuntu mate 17.10 on a thinkpad

Just tried #14 suggestion (adding noibpb) and it fixed it here.

what I had to do:
Enable the compiz-dev ppa:

Pin this ppa at a higher priority, as packages are not tagged properly and

One more thing, I was previously using the nvidia driver on 10.10 that's
no longer supported on 11.04, so I'm not sure if this bug existed on
10.10. I can do a parallel install if needed to check if it's a
regression.

There's a lot of talk about this in many bug reports(#446412, #394273,

resolutions, xsplash is right, gdm messes it and then once it's done X returns
to the original res set at startup.

I'm not sure if this is related, but on the transition from alpha6 to beta, I
also lost the display turning off after the screen saver. This is on a T61, set
with screensaver after 5 minutes and screen off (in power management) after 10.
Can anyone confirm if you have this same new behaviour?

I just wanted to confirm this bug on a fresh install of alpha6 and after
all patches. Both network:/// and smb:/// show no servers. Network has 1
pc running vista, 1 running WHS + another laptop running gutsy. smbtree
returns the full workgroup list after entering password.
