Wow, thanks for that variable setting! I've been silently suffering when
a quick google search resulted in this bug report. I used to just click
on the button with nothing happening (thankfully it did get focus, so I
just got used to hitting the space bar to invoke the button's action)

Seems to have been resolved on all three machines (not sure what, if
anything, fixed it...but all's well that ends well). The icon is there; the

I have Adobe Acrobat installed; I'm seeing the same thing when I have a
pdf open in a tab. As soon as I try to close the tab, firefox crashes.

There could be countless permutations of what could be a misconfiguration issue
somewhere; requesting additional info:
- What *ubuntu release are you running?
- What output do you get when you issue ifconfig on a terminal?
Could be a miriad of issues (dns, dhcp, etc. etc.). I'm personally

Oddly enough, on a cold boot I was actually surprised to see the almost-
forgotten Ubuntu startup splash bar rendered properly. I'm still seeing
a different uvesafb error, but not the -22 error as some are still

Not that I'm being pushy in any way, but was wondering if there was a
planned fix (and rough timeframe) for this. I've gotten by for the most
part by removing usplash (prior to this I was getting a completely blank
screen, so I ssh'ed, apt-get removed, and rebooted, and voila I can see
the gdm logi

My VNC client reports "Connection refused (10061)".
Furthermore, the vnc server doesn't seem to be running on port 5900 (or
at all) when I did a netstat -l

A bit drastic, but I've tried this a couple of times, and the way I've
resorted to consistently getting an actually usable UI (there's only so
