I already use 12.10. I can connect to all wifi networks, there are only
problems when connecting to eduroam network (wpa2 enterprise). My
notebook is working just fine with the other networks (eg. my private
one --> WPA2 personal).
I think I will open a new bug...thanks for all the information.

They are all named "PICx.jpg" or something like that. But one can't
see in which folder it is located.

I installed Gnome3 and it has deactivated "nautilus handles the
desktop". So the effect was, that there were no icons on the desktop and
no menu when i have right clicked.
A side-effect was that when the mouse pointer is over the "no mans land"

now the status in messaging menu shows "offline" but my empathy is
online and connected.

At the moment empathy is closed and there is a white dot next to "logged
off". So far, so good. But there is also a white arrow next to "Chat".
Is this right? In my opinion this is very confusing, because this would
mean that the arrow will never disappear. It will be there when empathy
is running

But now with oneiric standby works perfectly (better than with natty)

Because a second power manger (additional to the gnome-power-manager)

But nevertheless the outcome of this is a battery lifetime just under

I tested the kernel 3.1.0-030100rc10-generic and got a value of 28-30W
in idle mode.
Please note that these values are only the ones i got in IDLE mode. That
means, when i move the cursor and switch to another window the power
consumption increases up to 40W-45W and more. Only to keep this in mind
these are the last lines of folks.log created with the method above.

after some tests with the mainline kernel and the other one I can say,
that the mainline kernel takes ~2W more than the other one. That means
the power consumption with the mainline kernel (3.1.0-999-generic) is
31W and the consumption with the oneiric stock kernel (3.0.0-12-generic)
is 29W.
