Updated to the newly proposed Thunar 1.6.11 in Xubuntu 16.04.2 .
Fixes the bugs for me, too: in contrast to Thunar 1.6.10 it now works
when renaming files _and_ when moving files across partition boundaries.
Looks good to me. Thanks to all who contributed!

Martin Dauskardt's mentioned mini patch from XFCE's Harald Judt also
fixes all Thunar crashes here.
Meaning that the various Thunar bugs – crashes when renaming, when drag & drop,
etc - seem to all be related.
But in order to patch you've to compile the Thunar source code for yourself and

I too can confirm that this killer bug wasn't there in Xubuntu 15.04 but that
it is happening often in Xubuntu 15.10 .
It makes Thunar hard to use.
Do the developers need any further information in order to fix it? We would
gladly provide further information.

I don't think this bug has been reported before, for sure it wasn't
there in Xubuntu 14 LTS which I used from the beginning without
problems.
On the very same machines (note plural) where Thunar in 14 LTS runs
fine, Thunar in Xubuntu 15.10 crashes all the time.
I can confirm however what Jens Her
For the first time here, Thunar's crash has been shown on the desktop by
Apport, after Thunar had just finished moving files (in particular
between partitions linked via folders) .

The bug happens "only" with files, whilst folders (directories) work.
I.e. you can delete a folder in the linked folder's root directory, but not a
file in the linked folder's root directory.

The crash bug doesn't seem to have any connection to moving files between
different partitions.
I just selected all the hand-full of the files from a sub-folder and moved them
with the mouse to the parent-folder when Thunar crashed, and apport produced
the attached log. Like the original poster
Same error here with Xubuntu 15.10 (like original poster).

Do you mean by installing trash-cli and doing a "restore-trash" command
once, this Thunar bug is gone? Or, more probably, just for the file

Public bug reported:

3) Dragging in Thunar an external folder (like "/media/user/mountxy" for

Now inside this linked folder I try to use Thunar's right-click "delete
I can confirm this bug in Thunar 1.6.10 on two independently installed
Xubuntu 15.10 PCs showing the exact same Thunar crash when moving
multiply selected files in Thunar from on folder to another folder. So I
can pretty much exclude wrong configuration of one single installation.

After quite intensive search on the net I found that the real problem is

The problem is, Acer didn't release any new firmware for this particular

Hallo Mr. Sebastian, thank you for your reply.
Currently I don't use ubuntu anymore, because of the bug. I cannot work
with those frequent freezes every once in a while. I'm currently using
Windows XP, and considering I would move to ubuntu again if the bug is
fixed. Everything else seems fine,
