I also happen to use the "feature" of not clearing the search box a lot.
I will do a search, follow some links in the same tab, rather than
opening them in a new one, then want to repeat the search.  It's nice to
be able to just open a new tab and have the same search still in there.
Not arguing that I have the most efficient workflow, just that it seems
I end up doing it a lot.
