aleth contacted me through IRC and provided some BIOS dumps from his
card. Apparently the problem is that his BIOS reports incorrect I2C port
control registers -- If that's the case the attached patch should fix
it.

Take in consideration that if you have an SSD, it will be much slower
with this workaround cause we're using ata_generic module kernel than
with AHCI
With ata_generic, the controller can't go to NCQ so if you have a
good SSD, it will suffer performance degradation.

any Wacom based tabletpc would really benefit from pen rotation aligned
with display orientation. I have always had to create/modify rotation
scripts that query xrandr and then set xsetwacom accordingly. I really
think that Ubuntu should be able to do this considering the increasing
popularity

Now I'm experiencing a similar, but not identical, bug with the PPA
package. I'm not able to reliably reproduce it, but when I'm shutting
down, there's occasionally a louder buzzing sound (as opposed to a pop
as before) that occurs as X is shutting down, but before the system has
shutdown.

The problem only occurs if you plug-in the dongle after boot. Plugging before

** Description changed:
Any implementation of Java (be it Sun's or the OpenJDK) suffers from
this bug. Some Java Applet Windows cannot be closed when clicking on the
close button (X) on the Window Manager title bar.
This bug only affects Linux distributions. On MS Windows, the Applets
Fixed on the current upstream on lucid (so far). Works for me.

Weird, with me it'd happen with Empathy too. Try crashing your system a
few more times and then disable Bonjour on Pidgin and ensure it didn't
crash, and come back here with the results. I'm using KDE now but I
suppose I can test this again during the week.

Thank you, Jeff, worked for me.
I downloaded the firmware firmware from the url
http://daemonizer.de/prism54/prism54-fw/fw-usb/2.13.24.0.lm87.arm
I renamed the file 2.13.24.0.lm87.arm to isl3887usb
Then copied to the file isl3887usb to the pc into the folder /lib/firmware/
I replugged the usb
Can someone confirm this has been fixed?

I wish somebody could do something about this so as to get a quality
release. I want to continue feeling proud of promoting Ubuntu, but
