reinstalled them, and everything went fine.
I think this occurred because I had an old screenlet package installed,
manually from a tar.gz, and it was not cleaned before installed from
ppa. So my fault, I did not pay attention.
Thanks anyway,

That's right, I've used their .run.
I've manually install the 96, 173 and 177. Here's some /var/log and
xorg.conf if those might be of any help.
I've also run :
sudo apt-get install --reinstall libgl1-mesa-glx xserver-xorg-core
sudo apt-get install --reinstall nvidia-177-kernel-source nvidia-177-
I've manually install nvidia-glx-177 and things are a little better, after
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop
sudo nvidia-xconfig
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start
I'm now in an "unbelievable" 1024x768 resolution :) (before it was 800x600...)

This may be why xorg crash.

Thx for your concerns Charlie,
Thunar version is 0.9.0. Xubuntu is Hardy.
"pgrep Thunar" says that 2 instances are running, which is obviously the
source of the problem. But I just don't know how these instances have
been launched (from which configuration files).

I don't remember it clearly, but I think 'auto eth1' disappeared just after
update.
It wasn't working so I did some switching in the GUI. That did nothing so I
went to '/etc/network/interfaces'.
