I just tried to upgrade a 10.04 Lucid system and ran into this bug, which seems
to leave the system in a completely stuck state.
What work around is there, if any?
Trying to manually install python-apt fails.

I noticed that pam_krb5 sets:
$KRB5CCNAME to /tmp/krb5cc__
Which can cause the "Required key not available" error because
mount.cifs is actually looking for a per-uid, not per-session file at
/tmp/_.
Not yet found a way around it, but to mount things manually I have to do e.g.:
$ sudo cp /tmp/k
- tmpfs none rw,mode=755
26 18 0:19 / /var/lock rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime - tmpfs none rw
27 18 0:20 / /lib/init/rw rw,nosuid,relatime - tmpfs none rw,mode=755
28 18 8:6 / /home rw,nosuid,nodev,relatime - ext3 /dev/sda6
rw,errors=continue,data=writeback
29 28 0:21 / /home/garen/.gvfs rw
I don't even have skip-bdb in /etc/mysql/my.cnf, so commenting it out
isn't the solution. Using mysql 5.3.37 probided by mysql-server-5.1 on
Ubuntu 9.10 / Karmic.
