The behavior I'm seeing seems to be the same as this user's in the
forums:

I'm currently using 10.04, but I also experience this same issue in
9.10.

Thanks, for the info. Putting the missing cert in /etc/ssl/certs/ca-
certificates.crt and adding:
TLS_CACERT /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt

why my setup was working in Gutsy? Previously, I only had:
TLS_CACERTDIR
Perhaps because gnutls openldap doesn't seem to support the
TLS_CACERTDIR option (bug #242313)?

Bugs,
I can confirm the cacertdir not implemented for gnutls warning
message. The same setup that worked for me on Gutsy no longer works on
Hardy.
I had only added the following option to my /etc/ldap/ldap.conf file:
TLS_CACERTDIR /usr/share/ca-certificates/mozilla

I am seeing this same issue. Let me know if there is any information I
can provide that would be helpful, but my output is basically the same
as what Karl has already posted.
And for those interested, you can work around the issue with the
following option in ldap.conf:
TLS_REQCERT allow

Just hit this bug also. The error box popped up while adapt was:
Preparing to configure new version of libqt3-mt
Specifically, the error message was:
Could not commit changes
There was an error committing changes. Possibly there was a problem
downloading some packages or the commit would break

Same problem for me today when upgrading from Kubuntu 7.04 to 7.10
following the instructions here
http://kubuntu.org/announcements/7.10-release.php#upgrade.
And yes, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debconf/+bug/150768
appears to be the same issue and exactly describes the errors I saw.
