Still seeing this bug (Ubuntu-Gnome 15.10, with Gnome 3) too.
I too think this is a security issue. They don't even need to steal my laptop
-- just flip it open and power it on briefly, and be ready with a smartphone to
take a picture at the screen contents.

It still happens for me too in 15.10 --whenever I close the laptop lid,
the computer hibernates (I have set it to hibernate) correctly and upon
powering the laptop again, the contents are briefly visible bef
I would say this problem has an importance higher than «low», doesn't it?
I mean, the program is not working without any hint as to what has gone wrong
or offering the user any solution. And 24-bit files are not that uncommon.

I too have been seeing this bug intermitently across the last
distributions. Currently, in 13.04, I seem unable to create any bootable

I confirm JBR's issues -- I'm having exactly the same problem. This is
somewhat of a showstopper, since playing with font-weights is a great
resource in design.

I have made some testing and it's a bug in the GTK theme (or perhaps the
engine?), not in the actual applet. Changing the default (Ambiance)
theme to some other (like, for example, Lucid X) fixes this issue (or
not, depending on how the theme is designed, I suppose).
