Okay, so I've completed the proposed modifications of network-config.xml
as they relate to this ticket.
I have been re-reading it over and over again, but you know how an extra
pair of eyes can find both grammatical and spelling issues, and would

on GRUB password protection has been removed, due to the fact that GRUB
2 still lacks sufficient password protection. It is possible, but the
instructions are lengthy, and passwords are stored in clear text.

Just to add to this thread, I ended up creating a Gnome keyboard
shortcut (Ctrl+Super+P) which executes vbetool dpms on. When the
screen in non-responsive, I use the key combination and it turns the
power back on.
vbetool needs root privileges, so I just used the setuid attribute so
normal users

I too am having this problem with clean installations of 9.10 Karmic on
two dell laptops. Both are running integrated Intel graphic cards.
Power settings have been set to Blank Screen on lid close. The system

Just ran into this bug. Clean installation of Ubuntu Desktop 8.04.
Running users-admin from console works as expected.
Running users-admin or sudo users-admin from remote connection (e.g. ssh
X11 forwarding, NXClient, etc) does not allow administrative access to unlock
the tool.
The error
given is:

OQO Model 02 uses the VIA UniChrome Driver, which for some reason does
not work well immediately after a clean install of Hardy, and of course
the initial slimmed version of Xorg's configuration file. This results

OQO Model 02 Default Xorg Configuration Issue
FYI... I have been facing the same issue installing Hardy Beta Alternate
and Server Editions on an OQO Model 02, VirtualBox, and in VMWare
Server.
I've successfully been able to work around the grub installation failure

I'm pretty sure it's all related. I have similar defects when
scrolling, and moving windows around leaves trails. Maximizing a window
often clears it up temporarily, but continues to be a problem after most
screen movement.
