I have problem with sound ever since the upgrade to Hardy. The sound comes and goes from the speaker but on my headphone it plays smoothly, no loss of sound. I am really annoyed with sound playing intermittently on the speaker. All the kernel 2.6.24.XX version still gives sound problem. Now updating the kernel to the latest one and see if the problem still persists.
