I don't know if I have the exact same problem, but in my case it is because
gvfs-smb-browse tries to access a samba server (first problem is why does it
try to contact it, I never browse samba shares) using ipv6
When gvfs-smb-browse uses the whole cpu core I can run a :
netstat -laputenW |
Same with yed (java too)
Thanks for the workaround, it was driving me crazy

Found something interresting, that could be related :
- Reboot the computer from ubuntu menu
- At bios screen, enter bios, then just do nothing (works also by launching
windows, or staying on the grub menu)
- wait around one minute
- the computer will reboot by itself
Could you guys that have

fine.
I've just tried :
- updating bios to last version - same result
- enabled memory test at startup - same result (in case of reboot, then it
will reboot during the test, which takes more than 1 minute)
- removing nvidia
I have a similar bug which has been marked as duplicate (#794702). so I've
tested the unity thing, but in my case it's strange, it happens :
- In unity
- In GDM with effects
- In GDM with no effects
- With no graphical login at all (just logged in to a shell, and 'sudo halt')

I've also tried to remove the power supply after powering off from
ubuntu, the reboot was ok. So indeed
