Hi Bruce,
After a few starts in 9.10 everything was back to normal, so it wasn't a big
problem after all.
After upgrading from 9.10 to 10.04 I hadn't any problems at all.

Hi Bruce,
After about a day and several times switching the computer off and on the
problem has disappeared. Spontaneous as far as I can see, but maybe there
has been an update (I'm very trustfull, if there are updates, they're
installed without looking)

Next to my from 9.04 upgraded 9.10 I also did a clean install. This one seems
to run flawless.
So it looks like the problem is something in the upgrade.

Update: maybe it is just my stupidity...
When I reinstall Ubuntu, I relocate the /home directory to the old one by
editing fstab. After this, the problem appears already, changing the /home back
to the one that was created during the fresh install, everything works fine
again.

Hello Brian,
Thanks for the advice. It worked, at this moment the upgrades are being
installed.
Does it mean that the "tuxfamily" doesn't exist anymore? (I'm afraid that
I'm a newbie to Linux and Ubuntu)
