henry cow here. I am a newbie and nUboon2Age was very helpful in getting me online after 6 weeks of frustration. He posted this bug report on my behalf and I appreciate it. This is not an expired or invalid bug. I purchased a new laptop a couple of months ago and tried more than a dozed "fixes" that I found in the Ubuntu forums and elsewhere before nUboon2Age (and Dave, anewguy) were able to divine that it was a Windows 7 driver problem. Utilizing the XP driver with ndiswrapper solved the problem instantly. I deeply appreciate the efforts of all you great people in this community.
