With Gutsy I used to be able to enable and disable the Sierra Wireless
WWAN hardware by sending commands to /proc/acpi/ibm/wan, but after
installing (a full re-install) of Hardy, that file is not present
anymore.

I have two versions of the kernel-image package installed. When trying
to suspend with 2.6.24-20 (or -21) it fails and crashes. When I try with
the old 2.6.24-19 it works.
If I remember correctly, the crash is a kernel ooops

this network any time soon. I am using 8.04 LTS to have a stable

I'd like to use your argumentation, but in reverse.
Disabling NET_NS is what is _causing_ a regression. Quick setup with
slow tear-down is a _current_ behaviour of the LTS release. If the users
of this LTS release wants to have another behaviour with vsftpd, then
_they_ should seek to use

using that is that it isn't possible to "move" the applet. Though it's
still possible to "remove [the applet] from panel".

bug #274396 is a duplicate of this one. In that bug it states that you
should "Save debug logs", but that isn't possible since it doesn't
matter if you flick on or , the same dialog box pops
up again prompting to change the media.

for an old CD-ROM drive from 1999 and use it during installation.

I concur. I've just downloading acroread for jaunty from
archive.canonical, and the speed was sometimes below 1 Kbit/s. Though
the download did succedd in the end. I think it's just overloaded. YMMV.
