OK, did it like Max-Ulrich Faber already said on 2007-08-01 and it
worked:
* Open Synaptic
* Install packages 'gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse' and 'lame'

Why this bug isn't fixed with an automatic patch downloaded by the
automatic updating process? I don't want to spent the whole weekend
exercising on 'debdiff' or other strange things.

I still experience the problem running ubuntu 704 with all patches
installed. What do I have to do exactly to get rid of this annoying

When choosing 'preferences' trying to select MP3 as the output format it
is not present in the list. When hitting 'edit profiles' it is present
and marked 'active'. What can be done to be able to select it?
