NVIDIA GT 435M Optimus card, and the problem still persists with
270.41.06 installed. Flickering occurs at odd moments such as changing

Thanks for the response, but I'm a bit reluctant to venture into a
complete reinstall.
It doesn't seem as though the problem with update-manager AND
computer-janitor should be difficult.
AND I see from another forum that I'm not the only one experiencing
failure on both of these in 10.10.
I AM able to update manually OR through Synaptic. So I have gotten
updates TO update manager. That said, I suspect the bug is NOT an update
manager bug but, as I may have said elsewhere, possibly some switch that
is set when it should not be. But where? AND is it related to the

app needs http_proxy variable... and there's no way to tell apt not use

Problems occured also while using kernel 2.6.24-21-server on a nfs server
All freezed cases arrived within few minutes (3 to 4) with around 8Gb of data
transfered form the server to the client.

Recently I have got one lucky time where WLAN worked. I immediately got

I'm having the same problem here. (Acer Travelmate 6292 with Intrepid)
While on the LiveCD, wireless worked randomly: i.e. randomly changing on
restart. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it doesn't.

See Marcus comment. There is an old bug that cause the Mass Storage
panasonic to have their permission changed making them unmountable.
libgphoto2 has been fixed, but I don't know for the version in hardy.
The Panasonic USB ID 0x2372 MUST be removed from libgphoto2, and the
helper scripts updated

Synaptic do not manage properly index with lower casses.
