When you click on the speaker icon on the top right, a dialog opens up
with a slider to adjust volume, etc. In this situation, if you turn the
volume control wheel, it'll not change the sound volume. If you close
the dialog the wheel works again.

Pressing Menu key does not br
On a clean installation of 14.04 I have this problem, especially right
when I close a terminal window. Restarting lightdm allows me to log back
in and bring CPU usage to normal, but of course I will lose all unsaved
work when retsarting lightdm.

fonts and other information GRUB loads from places other than /boot are
