I just tested -2ubuntu4, and it fixes the problem for me. Thanks!

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xkeyboard-config
Since the last upgrades (the ones that caused bug #255008 and bug
#255372) my japanese keyboard is not behaving properly, there are some
missing keys in the layout.
The symbols that do not work and used to work before the latest upgrades
Thanks for the reply.
I think it is the same basic issue as in bug #255372 (both japanese and
brazilian keyboards are special cases that used to work before whatever
caused bug #255008), I added the same information there.

Up arrow key mapped to Print [screen]
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/
Same problem here with a japanese keyboard (pc106).
The symbols that do not work and used to work before the latest upgrades
(that caused also bug #255008) are ']' and '}' (which in the japanese
keyboard are in the same key), and the key for '\' and '_' (underscore,
one key again).
It still works
I have a japanese keyboard (pc106) and some keys still do not work after
upgrading to gnome-settings-daemon (2.23.6-0ubuntu2), although the Up ->
PrtScr problem is indeed fixed (I am using evdev managed keyboard, as
recommended).
The symbols that do not work and used to work before are ']' and '}'
Attaching a backtrace with the debugging information from:
deb http://people.ubuntu.com/~pitti/ddebs edgy main universe
installed, I hope this is useful. I am running today's edgy, with the processor
being an
'AMD Turion(tm) 64 Mobile Technology ML-37' (from /proc/cpuinfo)
and an ati mobility rad
Done, hopefully someone will have a clue what got broken.
I will keep this bug updated if I get any response.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 35231 ***
Sorry, but this is not a duplicate of 35231 (although they sound
similar). That bug is for 'emacs -nw' (that is, no X window, emacs runs
inside the gnome terminal) while this one is about 'emacs' (so emacs
opens its own window).

The following info might be useful too:
-- Env vars:
LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8
LANGUAGE="fr_FR:fr:en_GB:en"
LC_* not set.
-- Running latest (in edgy) gnome packages, with Keyboard model 'ACPI
standard'. All gtk apps work fine.

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: emacs
When running emacs21, also emacs-snapshot-gtk, dead keys do not work.
For example, entering a dead circumflex, space should result in a caret
('^'), but only the space appears, and '' is
undefined" appears in the status bar. Same with accents.
