I tested a bionic desktop ISO built with this livecd-rootfs and built
successfully and got core, so snaps work.
Not sure if that is sufficient validation for this bug, so I won't (yet)

I've verified these as best as I can. I installed 1.14.4 and played a
load of different filetypes:
- mp3
- ogg
- flac
- opus
- mp4 (H.264)
with different codecs, e.g. mpg123, libav, ...

I've retried the failing tests, except why3 which I think is just busted
(not glib2.0's fault - good for a badtest?)
Have smoke tested on disco and it seems good to me. I ran the desktop
for a bit, checking the video player, text editor, image viewer and web
browser. Shell itself of course uses
all except armhf look like a problem with the Chromium snap
armhf will probably become that same problem once we're able to run
snaps there (need to look into what's required)

Thanks for this Gunnar. I'll upload. I do think that Matthias's comments
upstream make sense though - presenting the modifiers directly does not
look particularly great. It'd be good if we could address this somehow.

Accepted gedit into disco-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/3.32.0-3 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.
Please help us by testing this new package. See
azzar1 and I think that what's happening is that the spinner (actually
all spinners) is not animating in some VMs, due to animations in general
being disabled.

please note that just overriding this setting for spinners
incompatible with.

It's supposed to use plymouth to display that text. The script that's
calling plymouth is in casper (casper-md5check). I'll reassign this bug
there, but it may turn out to be elsewhere.
Trying to look but I'm not very familiar with this area so wouldn't
decline any help.
