There are two commits tagged against the upstream bug (#38332). One
makes a change and the other reverts it.

Could you provide a link to this new bug?
I don't see what difference creating a new bug makes. At the end of the
day, the package in the repository is broken. It should be fixed or
removed altogether. I don't care if some other piece of software on the
Internet happens to work.

Since the last update, I've been running the 2.6.29 kernel linked on
'Jaunty Intel Graphics Performance Guide'

OK, I've had three crashes in the last hour. The actions I was doing during
these were:
- 2x browsing through lightboxed images in Firefox
- closing a tab in Firefox
Usually, the mouse pointer hangs too. During one of these crashes, it
stayed alive.
I can log in through SSH. The Xorg process is
Xorg log (pre-crash; all of my older post-crash logs look identical, so
they're probably not being updated at crash time)

I've been using rfcomm + ppp to connect my laptop (running Ubuntu Gutsy)
to my mobile phone for Internet access.
At some point, the connection will drop unexpectedly (more on this
below). I verify that pppd is shut down and close the

the default kernel parameters ('noacpi') eventually if I leave the
machine alone. It'll reboot repeatedly and eventually it'll succeed.
