If the fix just applied disables controlling xpdf by the keys, then it's not
a fix.
It totally escapes me why, since one can install xpdf from source (see #36
above) one can't simply package that and have done with it.

This is an annoying shortcoming in the current gnome-settings (used to
be gnome-power-manager). It does not check whether it should suspend
when entering on-battery state. Here's a work-around:
Put the following into an (executable) file
/etc/pm/power.d/zzsleepiflidclosed

Yes I can see that change. But it does not actually fix the bug.

This bug is present with Lenovo T400, with fully updated Karmic AMD64 release.
I downloaded the 11/23 builds and installed them with dpkg -i. It did not
appear to make any difference.

I did a virtual machine in VirtualBox that had 2 hard drives, and I
tried an installlation using the linux software RAID provided by the
mdadm package, and will a bit of extra legwork, it managed to boot the
RAID0 system using grub2.

I also get this bug using a Karmic beta LiveUSB. It produces these
messages...

I'm sure it can be cooked up so that users who find it a little strange
can change it from the slightly-lower position to the place it was in

Getting this problem on the Karmic beta, but using the two commands
suggested by Nattgew, sorted the problem out and Firefox 3.5 is using
the same hinting as the rest of Ubuntu
