I've turned lots of things off so it might take me a while to get this
to you. I thought I had nepomuk completely suppressed however I see it
is still running.
I have attached the output from the command which I just issued. So
obviously something is still running. I am still getting corruptio

I have exactly the same problem. In fact it gets worse. If I force the
shut down I find that on restart a full file system check is forced and

Samba is installed, works OK.
When Ubuntu is started:
smbclient -L localhost -U%
shows all the shares I configured in smb.conf
smbclient -L 192.168.0.14 -U%

After 4+ years, this is not solved. May be this is an intentional

Sorry for late answer. Same behaviour on Guest Session (MP3 plays but
seekbar remains disabled and Time is always unknown for ALL MP3, Ogg
play OK).
Also on my regular user account, since I have played some Ogg, I can no
longer play MP3. Each time I click an MP3, Rhythmbox hangs, must "Force
Quit"
All files are local. Just installed Ubuntu 9.04 x32 on another computer.
The same MP3 files I have trouble in the upgraded Ubuntu 9.04 x64 are
played OK. So it seems like it's not a rhythmbox issue.
