running Debian (jessie/sid) with Linux 3.14.13-2 (same BCM4360 chipset).

I do not see any different behaviour between 5GHz or 2.4GHz.
Removing ~/.local/share/recently-used.xbel solved this exact problem for
me. There was no need to delete additional configuration files.
