Although I had several problems with the alpha version upon first
launch, I must add that all those issues seem to've resolved upon
restarting the application, which has seemed to work quite normally
since then.

Yes, this alpha runs on my 64-bit Intrepid machines far better than did
the long-standing 0.7.10 version, but at least for me, it certainly does
not work at all well, as preview and source view modes are so broken
/bug-ridden as to be either completely or effectively unusable.
It does, however, al
I have this issue on both my machines running 64-bit Intrepid.

I did still have this problem with the latest version, until I simply
deleted the contents of the "local" sub-directory, which seems to've
done the trick.

Using 64-bit Gutsy, I'm also having the problem described so well by
Justin. the presence of the tablet is detected instantly and identified
correctly (as reported by Hardinfo), but this is pointless as long as
the pen isn't functional enough to paint with.

I have the same problem on 64-bit Gutsy with my HP Office Jet 6310.
Every time I turn off/on the unit or reboot the computer, then try to
start xsane, this error results. Usually, a few removals and reinstalls
of the unit have been needed before the situation resolves.

I should have mentioned that I'm running 64-bit Gutsy. I also must add
