I have the same problem, though no messages in dmesg. CD sound is slightly to very distorted depending on volume and music style. Other audio (e.g. mp3s) plays fine. Maybe it's got something to do with the way of playback (analogue vs. digital)? I'll see if I can find anything on the subject. --
