We loaded jaunty on a MALIBAL Satori on Oct 11th, 2010. The newer

with Docky and Cairo-Dock also.

Same problem here on Dell XPS.
This is a duplicate of Bug #370173
Hope it's fixed soon. I'm working around it with a chillpad and a small
personal desk fan.

This is similar to Bug #374999. In any event. My new install of Jaunty
has no CD/DVD drive now. I've re-installed three times now and tried
everything but can't get it to work. Disabling the CD/DVD drive does not
work. Changing BIOS settings does not work.
LILO does not work. Post #11 is correct,
Same problem here with Dell XPS.
Anyone know if this is in the works or how to fix it? I can't use an OS
that breaks my hardware.

We have this problem on various machines.
Everyone says the same thing but nothing works. It's always..check
your PCM?..install ALSA mixer?.(Yeah, like ALSA mixer is the
cure all.) Or it's; Did you install this?.can you run this command
and post that?.pulse audio controls?.
These guys don't have a clue about sound or volume Walt.
Ubuntu sound is the laughting stock of the OS world.
Users have been dicking around with this issue for 7 years and Canonical
won't even try to address it.
