Fail to deduct the scanner

Recently I upgraded my laptop from 13.04 to 13.10. After that I am
facing the following issues.
. No automount for usb devices
. Unable to shutdown/reboot from the menu (unless from commandline with sudo)

The issue still there in my system. My system is upto date. I will run the
updater daily.

last update runs: 29 October 2013.
I saw this issue after I upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10.

Not able to use
I am getting this issue after I upgraded from 13.04 to 13.10
Software Updater:
"[BOLD]You are not allowed to perform this action[/BOLD]
You don't have the required privileges to perform this action"
Also I am not able to shutdown/reboot from the menu. I have to run "sudo
poweroff" or "sudo reboot
