jth's approach in #24 looks sensible to me. Why has it gone ignored?

I had this problem in 12.04.1. It is resolved with #1012946. Once I
installed parted 2.3-8ubuntu5.1 (which is scheduled for 12.04.2) I was
able to use vmbuilder with a logical volume as a raw device.

Droid Sans Mono only has one style: Regular. Bold or Italic styles are
being programmatically generated by LibreOffice. So the problem isn't
with the Droid Sans Mono font, but rather (arguably) with LibreOffice.

Out of desperation I did a format/reinstall. This problem does not
exist out of the box. While reconfiguring the system to my tastes, I
kept my eye on if/when it would reappear.

This bug is plaguing me very regularly in 11.10 on my laptop (Thinkpad

also running 11.10. Regardless, I suspect it's going to drive me to
xfce, because it makes the desktop unusable. So far I haven't had a

with a QA build of the alternate installer).

Will there be another 10.04 RC to test this? Or is there some other way
we can test the updated installer?

I don't think that message means the arrays are overlapping, at least
for useful definitions of "overlapping." It would say this if, for
example, md0 and md1 had separate partitions on the same physical disks.
This is the case for my configuration, where I have 5 disks each with

Public bug reported:
Although at first blush this seems to be bug #527401, I don't think it's
related to grub2. It's also a regression from alpha3; whereas #527401
also applies to lucid alpha3, this bug does not. I am using the
alternate installer.

linux-image-2.6.28.15.20 and pulseaudio-1:0.9.14-0ubuntu20.2 here, with
the crackling audio (on a Thinkpad T61p).
The fix that seemed to work for me -- and in fact the only one needed at
all -- was Jonathan's suggestion of adding the position_fix=1 option to
snd_hda_intel.

This bug no longer applies to Intrepid.
Intrepid's session management is broken beyond all repair anyway. It
doesn't even bother starting gnome-terminal, let alone starting windows

Just upgraded to Intrepid and am hit with this extraordinarily
irritating problem. 2.6.27-9.19 has CONFIG_HAVE_DYNAMIC_FTRACE=y. I

I disagree with FredWP that this isn't a bug. This is quite a serious
user interface bug. There is no indication whatsoever that the network
game feature does anything at all unless you happen to know what package
to install and what command to run. Even the manual had no instructions

Actually, rather than reverting my terminals to 80x25, it swiftly
crashes gnome-terminal. It doesn't do this every time, but if I play
around with various terminal configurations (number of open windows,
sizes, number of tabs), I can eventually make it segfault by editing the
prefs as you suggest.
Thanks Sebastien.
I suppose in some sense that's what I'm asking for, although ensuring
the order shouldn't be my responsibility. It's not reasonable to expect
a user to know when he saves his session that he must reorder things so
that Compiz starts first.
But I suppose software can have config
Public bug reported:
When saving a session with gnome-terminals, it sometimes happens that
gnome-terminal is started on login before the compositing manager

true transparency.
This happens on gutsy as well as hardy.

Also happens with Compiz.
Here is how to reliably reproduce. I setup the following four gnome-
terminal windows on 1600x1200 screen, each window with 4 tabs.

This is likely related: if I edit the current profile and change the
level of transparency, it immediately adjusts all terminal windows to
exactly 25 rows.
It also adjusts the number of columns on some, but not all of the
windows, and not all of them get adjusted to the same number of columns.
