I was using cross-fadding too. The tracks plays well after turning off
crossfading.

I can confirm that for me Audacity is able to to plays audio, record
audio and both at the same time, and also while playing audio in a
Pulsaudio aware application like Totem.

I was sure to use it 2 weeks ago for encoding an ogm screencast to avi ( Xvid
Mp3) but I reinstalled Ubuntu 7.10 + Avidemux 2.4.1 from getdeb.net and for the
moment I'm not able to open an ogm file.
