i would like to vote to re-open this bug (or to start a new one), on the
basis of UI/UX. Many Linux newbies do not know that
/usr/share/doc/moc/README even exists. Yes, they will discover it
later, but that page is "remote" to the experience (on the command-line

To be a bit more precise -- in DM, I switched from Xorg (which was
initially working with both monitors) to fglrx-updates (the 2nd choice
in the dialog box screenshot). Rebooted, ran under fglrx-updates driver
a few times, then switched back to Xorg driver (and rebooted).

success here as well: per Brian's request, I installed and minimally
tested the relevant packages i needed(*) from the utopic-proposed repo.
Kernel module builds, and directory listings, file create/modify/delete,
copy to/from afs all work well.
[utopic/Ubuntu 14.10 desktop. latest released/stable
achim: i tried the packages from your ppa and it works for me -- i, can
now reconnect to my afs server and get some work done -- much
appreciated thank you (utopic/14.10, 3.16.0-31 kernel). -js

I am on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS / amd64.. Xsane Preview window (through Gimp )
had always worked (even on 12.04 LTS) but just recently stopped. Now I
got the blank preview (but working/hidden buttons) everyone else is
describing.
I too deleted my ~/.sane (well, i moved it to ~/.sane-old) and restarted
