Ok, deactivating automatic brightside start in the session manager and a
log out/log in cycle solved the problem, so really brightside seems to
be the culprit here.

I just swapped out gtkpod-aac for the non-aac gtkpod package, which
shows exactly the same behaviour: no iPod - segfault, with iPod - the
same backtrace as with gtkpod-aac.
