I have a second screen attached to my laptop. When I open a Java Swing
application (like jedit) on this second screen then no tooltips appear
when I move my mouse over the icons. The tooltips do appear when I move

placed fine according to the Compiz rules, but every new window is place
so far right that only part of the left border is still visible. It took
me half an hour to find this window, since this border is hardly

It seems that this problem is not fixed. I just upgraded ubuntu to 12.04
on my dell latititude E6 and my touchpad does not work after logging in.

changing any settings does not help.

I have had the same problem and found the following solution: I enabled
OpenGL in Java2D by passing the following command line option when
starting my Java program:
-Dsun.java2d.opengl=True
Now the scrolling goes faster and the text is no longer garbled.
